Send Free Local and International SMS

Some of us want to reach people overseas and some just need to inform them of an urgent matter. But how will you do that if you run out or do not have any mobile load/credit to send SMS from your mobile phone to theirs?

A friend of mine asked me yesterday about the website that I use to send free SMS because she run out of load/credit to send her important message. So it occurred to me, why not share what I use when my mobile phone is unable to send SMS and I have an internet connection.

Here are 3 websites ranked on top of Google search to send free SMS to any country. These are not mobile apps like WeChat, Viber, and Skype etc.… So you don’t need to download anything, you just need an internet connection, go to your browser and type in the website to send SMS.

I learned this website from my younger brother who constantly send SMS to his friends. To me it’s not surprising how he was able to know that there are websites that offer free SMS. This is what I always use to send SMS to my mother working in Saudi Arabia and to my local contacts, but please be reminded that when sending messages from this website different mobile numbers are being used to send your SMS, meaning to say, it’s not your number being received by the person you messaged. Always keep in mind to include your name and a short message that says, “Reply to my number” because even the receivers won’t be able to reply to the number used by AFREESMS.

You can send unlimited international or local messages through AFREESMS but only 160 characters are allowed per message. If your message is lengthy you have to send the other half as a new SMS. They also support different language so you don’t have to worry if your characters are in Chinese, Han Gul and Arabic etc.

Here are 2 other options to send free SMS if AFREESMS doesn’t work for you, but I honestly haven’t tried these websites. These 2 were ranked next to AFREESMS on Google search so I also thought of sharing it.

How to Choose the Right Lipstick

1Lipstick has been around for a long time. Decades ago lipsticks were made from fruits and plant extracts. Many uses powdered stone and gems to add sparkle on their lips. Science of cosmetology hasn’t evolved yet so they were also unaware that they were already using poisonous substances to enhance their lipstick. The colors were limited as it depends on what ingredients they have on hand.  As a result, you will see ancient low class women wearing the same color, and only royalties wore the unique colors after classifying what can be sold to their people.

In our current generation lipsticks are manufactured to create different colors and shades that will match our skin tone, it even has vitamins. It is important to know what shades suit your complexion as it reflects our overall appearance. But this shouldn’t stop you from being bold in trying other available colors, this is just for you to have a staple look when you are in a rush and don’t have time to choose from your lipstick stand. This will save you time and still make you look good.

When you are in a makeup boutique and going through the lipsticks, you have this contemplating feeling whether or not to buy the one you are holding, (I’ve been there) why, because you are not entirely confident if it will look pretty on you. Even if you’ve swatch it on your hand (avoid applying the samples directly on your lips as it may have been used by other people) you still can’t decide until your best friend tells you that it looks good and you should buy it.

This blog post is inspired from my own experience in picking lipsticks. I have a natural to fair skin and I found that natural shade of pink and nude suits me more while bold colors like platinum scarlet darkens my face and makes my lips look as if it is has been stung by a bee. So how do you know what colors will suit you?

First, you should know your skin tone. Natural to fair skin tone (like mine) goes well with nude and light colors. Those with medium skin tone can go for a darker shade, but they can also rock the light colors. While those with deeper and darker skin tone may work with browns and plums suit them best. But if you are being adventurous and want to play with bolder lip colors, your eye shadow and blush-on must complement the lipstick that you are wearing. Because the last thing you want to do is to walk outside looking like a circus clown.

We’re not yet done because the shape of your lips also plays an important role in making your lip color pop. I believe you have experienced wearing a lipstick that made your lips look like a straight line drawn out of an anime comic book, or as if your lips pout like its swelling. And most of us try on our best friend’s lipstick that looks good on them expecting the same effect on us, but turns the opposite way after applying it. The reason why is because colors can accentuate the shape of your lips, with the power of drawing all the attention to it. This is why no matter how it suits your skin tone it still seems unsettled or sometimes overdone.

Let’s break down the shapes of the lips in 3 easy categories even though there are several more. First, the thin lips, which reminds me of my grandmother’s. Nude and light colors fit best on you and frosted lippies can add a pump that you’ve been missing. Lining just outside your normal lip using a lip liner can also help in making your lips more visible (that is why my grandmother always has a lip liner wherever she goes.)

Next, the top or bottom heavy lips. You can apply a light shade on the heavier side and a bit darker to the other side to give it a receding look, or you can use one shade and dab a white glossy eye shadow in the center to balance the shape out.

Lastly, the full lips similar to mine. Go for light, matte colors and avoid applying too much gloss. Use a lip liner inside your natural shape to make it appear less prominent. Application techniques can also create an illusion of bigger, smaller and well balanced lips so you should take that into consideration when getting your makeup done.

Minutes before applying any lipstick make sure that your lips are moisturized and hydrated to avoid chapping. Next, apply a lip primer so it holds the color and last longer, and then outline your lips with lip liner similar to your lipstick to avoid bleeding. Now grab the classic red lipstick that suit every woman and start dominating your world! Remember, it’s not about what everybody is wearing, it’s about what looks best on you.

If you’ve gone through the same situations mentioned above while in search for a lipstick like me, how did you manage to find the right lipstick that fits perfectly on you, or should I say, how did you find your favorite lipstick? Was there any clue or guide that helped you in noticing what doesn’t match you? Is there any other tips that you can give when buying a lip product? Are there application techniques that you want to share?

Tips When Buying a Curling Iron

A woman’s hair is a one of her prominent style statement and she is never truly dressed without flaunting a great hair. In ancient times, queens would ask their servants to comb their hair to perfection in the morning and before going to sleep in the evening. Their straight hair was groomed using combs from carved ivory, wood or horns and they wore elaborate hair ornaments to accentuate their grace. Women’s hair arrangement in those years signifies which hierarchy they belong, including their marital status. The hairstyle is a proof of power, but what if they are skin headed? Today bald women are accepted by the society but ages ago it is believed to be a sign of plague and misfortune. People were disgusted seeing bald women for they ruin the real meaning of beauty.

Exquisite curls were difficult to create because our beautiful ancestors were using a metal rod that has been heated over a fire where the temperature cannot be controlled. The hair gets fried the moment the strands touches the steaming rod. Women then complained and started to demand on owning a well manufactured hair curling tools with the right heat temperature that will make their lives easier. If today’s curling irons weren’t manufactured and innovated you would still be using the classical curling technique using rollers which takes overnight to set, prone to tangling and stresses the roots of your hair from tightly rolling it, but you avoid constantly heating your hair.

If you’re uncertain which type of curling iron to purchase, here are several tips to guide you:

  • Heat Capability

There are curling irons that enable you to control the heat level and ones that only offer fixed temperature. The heat tolerance of your hair depends on its condition. Damaged hair can only tolerate heat from 250 – 300 degrees, average hair from 300 – 350 degrees, while thick hair requires 350 – 400 degrees.

  • Barrel Shape

Straight shaped wand creates uniform curls. Cone shaped wands can make curls with smaller or voluminous edges. Pearl shaped wands give you that natural kinky look. Double and triple-barrel wands create mermaid waves.

  • Barrel Size

Keep in mind that barrels with smaller width will create tighter curls and bigger ones will give you lose curls. The width of a barrel starts from 13mm (0.50 inches) to a maximum of 32mm (1.25 inches).

  • Ease of Usage

Choose a curling iron that is easy and comfortable to grip. Where cords don’t tangle and has a reasonable length. Features automatic shut-off so you don’t panic when you left it on. Interchangeable barrels and swiveling cord are a plus.

  • Quality

Be aware of hair curlers made from harsh and high toxic metals as they are not only bad for your hair but may also endanger your health. Curling irons made from tourmaline and ceramic produces negative ion that is good for your hair compared to titanium, but this doesn’t mean that titanium will hurt your hair. It is actually a good heat conductor and spreads heat evenly along the barrel’s surface.

  • Read Reviews

Taking a little time to be knowledgeable about the curling iron that you are eyeing and comparing it with other products will pay you a good investment. You are aiming for a long term companion so it is a must that you introduce yourself to the best one for your life long use.

Gift Ideas for Women

Christmas is just around the corner and you stumbled upon my blog post because you are searching gift ideas for a woman in your life. Well, it’s tough to think about what present will delight ladies as soon as they unwrap the box that is hiding your hand-picked item for them, being a lady of my own I know. Let’s be real girls, we receive gifts but we still examine the items inside the packages the moment our hands got in touch with it. Then we gossip about it with our girl friends, not to brag about it but mostly to ask their opinion on where they might find it useful for you as you may already have the same item in your room. We do know that it’s the thought that counts, but seconds after revealing the present we think thoroughly on where we can actually use whatever we receive. I myself am also having difficult time thinking on what gift I should wrap for the gorgeous women that I know in my life, which brings me on writing gift ideas that I pulled out from my mind and from research.

My idea is categorized on what the person values the most, so you must think thoroughly on what your receiver would likely expect you to give them. Women still prioritizes at least one thing in her life even if we generally love a bouquet full of roses. You might already be familiar with some of these ideas, but I did try my best to come up with something distinct. The cost of the products depend on where you’re going to shop, but I suggest you try to be more creative than quantitative, because we have quite a long list of women that deserves something from you. They say it’s difficult to find gifts for men, but actually it’s more like the women.

The Dessert Queen

A great gift for a girl who loves to eat sweets would be something that will satisfy her sweet tooth. If you know someone who would eat less main course just to save a bigger room in her tummy for dessert, gather different types of sweets, from chocolate, ice creams, candies and more in different variations. Buy confections that you know she haven’t tried but do not forget to include few of her favorite. There are candies that are sweet and sour in flavor, chocolates are coated in different flavors and there exist a wasabi ice cream. Put all of these in whatever size of basket you want and decorate it. For the fun part, slip in a toothpaste, toothbrush, dental floss and mouth wash with a note, “Don’t forget to brush your teeth before you go to sleep. A healthy tooth munches more sweets.” She will absolutely smile after being hit by the humor on why in the world was there a mouth hygiene kit in your gift basket. She would probably remember you every time she sees those things.

The Sparkle Princess

What else would you give a girl who wears sparkly accessories whether she’s in or outside the house and forgets it inside the bathroom than more accessories to wear! Buy accessories and holders for her. The idea here is to put one accessory in each holder, meaning to say if you’re buying a cute stacked up drawer it has to have at least one pair of earring, a necklace or whatever sparkling thing you want in each drawer. The wrapping up decoration would only consist of a big ribbon. You don’t need to use elaborate gift wrapping techniques, because the jewelry holders itself is already concealing your main gift for her.

The Glam Me Up Fairy

The artistic girl who uses her face as a canvas for her artworks would love to have a stock of her favorite cosmetics especially foundations. Everyone hates running out of daily makeup products and has to settle for whatever is available in her vanity until everything has been refilled. This gal would appreciate to find an extra while going through her makeup collections. In fact you’re going to be her life saver on that day. Ask the shade of the products she’s using in a way that she won’t notice what you’re up to. Do not risk buying cosmetics unless you know the shade that the person is using. Do include skin care regimen that she hasn’t tried and also an instant makeup brush cleaning spray for the lazy maids. Where do you put all these beauty products? Arrange it in a glittering gold or silver tray with measurements that will match the products, wrap it with a transparent plastic and close the top part with a black ribbon for that luxurious color combination effect.

The Fashionista Baby

Scared that she might criticize the outfit that you will choose for her? Worry no more, grab the basics, you’ll never go wrong with it. Just remember to interrogate her closet pieces and her body size when topics about fashion arise in your casual conversation. This will prevent you from buying the same clothing style, cut and color because the last thing you want to do is for her to have twin pieces that she will eventually think of giving away to someone else. If you really want to stay on the safe side you can buy loose tops or sweaters instead of buying jeans or dresses that may not fit perfectly as they need to be tried on. A glittering paper bag would do the job on making these items stand out.

The Spa Empress

Women gets physically exhausted easier than men that’s why you may know a friend that always have a weekly spa session to reason out for not being in few occasions. Don’t be upset with her for not making it to parties because she just value her health and maybe her muscles are really in bad shape after a stressful week at work. If she happens to have a bathtub at home I suggest you get her moisturizing bath bombs. If she only has a shower head available you can buy nourishing body scrubs. Bring relaxing scented candles before you checkout the counter for extra mood. The fact that she often goes to spa means she buys less products that she can use at home to save a little money. Wrap these in a cotton towel and add an exaggerated size of ribbon around it. She may think that you just got her a new towel, but it will surprise her when she finds out that there is more inside.

The Coffee Superstar

Signs that she’s the center of attraction in a coffee shop would be because of the number of times she orders a cup in your whole catching up date. A coffee lover myself, I would love to receive coffees in an easy open sachet from different stores available in the local market that also offers international brands. A month with various hot coffees in a mug to try everyday will definitely make a change to a stubborn woman who refuses to smile unless she drinks her coffee. Insert the coffee sachets in a jar, seal it with a cute ribbon and stick a label that says, “30 Days Coffee Journey That Will Brighten Up Your Month.” You don’t need to get her a new mug if that’s what you’re thinking, I’m sure she won’t replace her current companion.

The Scrapbook Doll

Everything cute, stackable, sticky and patterned will make this lady very happy. Her collections consist of scrapbooking materials such as washi-tapes, colored papers, sticky notes, colorful markers and more. Grab any item from a DIY store that you find useful for her. These materials will absolutely light up her eyes and there will surely be ideas building inside her mind on where she will be using these. A paper bag large enough to hold all of these items will do, just choose something reusable because creative people are known to be very resourceful. They can always turn something dull into something lively and useful.

The Shoe Goddess

Good shoes take you to good places so this girl happens to have more shoes in her wardrobe than clothing. But does she have enough racks to hold all her delicate shoes like knee-high booths that is prone to bending and cracks if not stored properly? I’m sure she doesn’t have booth standup holders for all her booths and other shoes, so a good gift idea for her would be several shoe holders with adjustable height. You can also buy stackable boxes built exclusively for shoes to breathe when stored in plastic section of a department store. Another idea would be the cushions and strips that will protect her feet from having bruises when wearing high heels throughout the day. Last but not the least, foot spa kit where she can soak her feet at the comfort of her home. A cute box would be reasonably good in housing these items.

The Book Deity

There will always be book in her activity area and she surely brings a larger bag to insert one in. When she’s at the shopping mall she never miss the opportunity to walk by the bookstore. A foldable book stand that she can take with her wherever she goes would be the perfect gift for this bookworm. The book stand will enable her to read in the most comfortable way, in a proper posture and will prevent her from slouching. It would also make her happier if you include the latest book that she’s been eyeing on. If she prefers Ebooks instead of holding an actual book, compile files in a usb with the book category that she loves. Just do a background check on the Ebooks that she already has so you don’t waste your time and avoids duplication. If you want to see her reaction the moment you hand these to her, use a transparent wrap with small designs and close it at the top with 3 bookmarks stringed in a ribbon.

No Sweat High School Life

When I was in high school I wasn’t the smartest student in school. I’m just like other happy-go-lucky students. I get up in the morning and goes to school to study everyday, play volleyball, sing for with the choir and goes back home. I also accumulated a lot of absences because I couldn’t get up early in the morning after reading a book till late nights. But no matter how busy, lazy or boring school days get, there’s one thing in my mind, to graduate high school without a failing grade, because my tuition fee is an investment.

Get out of your bed! This is never easy! Unless you’re one of those early bird type of people with natural skills in pulling their self out of bed every morning, especially when your age craves for late night chit-chat with friends. Here’s what you can do to get your lazy body up from bed. Set your alarm in 3 different time so when you unconsciously put it on snooze the first time, after few minutes the alarm goes on again to wake you up. Then play your favorite up beat music and volume up the speakers. Lie down for 5 minutes or finish 1 to 2 songs in your playlist. I believe that will set you a better morning mood to rise and shine.

Don’t skip your breakfast! I know as a late sleeper you tend to sleep your breakfast time. But let’s get real, you end up getting hungry the moment you arrive in school, then the bell rings and you don’t have enough time to eat because class is about to start. If someone is preparing your breakfast for you, be grateful and eat at home. If no one is preparing your morning meal, it’s either you wake up early to prepare breakfast or you wrap sandwiches the night before you go to school. This way you can just grab your sandwich, run out of the door and eat while you’re on your way to school. Just don’t forget to take whatever breakfast you prepared for yourself with you before you head out of the house!

Your locker is not a jail for your prisoner books. Don’t abandon your books inside your locker just because it’s heavy to carry it around the school campus and you’re lazy to bring it home with you to study. If you don’t want to take it home with you at least bring it to class and use it when your teacher is discussing. Some teachers give higher grades on recitation and class participation than written activities, because it makes them feel that you’re in class and they are not teaching ghost students. If you paid for your textbooks, it’s an investment that you made, so use it for your own advantage. I remember one of my teacher who always remind us of this, “If you’re going to let your books sleep inside your lockers, your grades will also be sleeping together with your brain.”

Join extra curricular activities that your school is offering. Try joining even if this idea doesn’t give a ring to your mind. Be it sports, choir, fund-raising or school event organizers, just try. This way, you’ll find out more about your capabilities, how you interact with the situation on hand and you’ll get to know more students from higher or lower batch than yours. This will somehow make going to school everyday more exciting because you can do something else in school after staying in the four corners of your classroom with the same people the whole day. If you don’t want to be in any extra curricular activities because you can’t find your best fit, create your own group. Schedule your own events. Talk to the principal if you can create a club inside the school, provided that you have a willing club moderator.

Submit what your teacher asked you to submit. Your grades don’t only come from your quizzes, final exams and recitation, but also from assignments and projects. If your teacher asked you to take home and finish something, do it because you have more time and resources to answer it. If you can’t get a perfect score on quizzes and exams, take advantage of the take home paper works that you’re given because you have a higher chance in getting the highest score possible. I believe you’ll get more accurate answers because you’re not on time pressure compared to answering a timed examination.

You don’t have to go all organized. Not everybody does well in keeping their things altogether. You just need to have clear book with binders or accordion filing envelope where you can slip the papers you receive from your teachers. Then arrange the papers according to their subject one a week. This way you don’t have papers scattered and folded inside your school bag. It’s more relaxing to open a school bag without getting papers all over the place. Trust me.

Don’t let your bad grades define your talent, skills and capabilities. It doesn’t mean that you have bad grades you’ll fail in everything that you do in life. People are just naturally not good at everything, but we can be good at one or two things that we do. Try to improve your grades by giving more time to the subject you least excel. Don’t push yourself to learn fast, take your time and make a habit out of it. I believe you will improve, because you’re doing something to make your grades better. While you focus on getting better grades, don’t forget to enhance your own skills and talents, you’ll be needing that when you go to college.

You’re in school for most of the time in your day, you’re already tired seeing your textbooks and the idea of advance study is killing your brain already. But if you’re going to study like you’re not studying at all I think that will somehow help you to learn a little something. When you get home some of the first things you do is to change your clothes, eat snacks or rest. Another thing that you do while doing all the relaxation is to go online on your social media accounts right? Here’s the thing, you don’t need to actually grab your book and read it. All you have to do is to have a written note of the topics that will be discussed the next day and type it in google. That way you’re only holding your mobile phone or your tablet or whatever gadget you’re using to update your social media accounts, at the same time you can switch from tabs to tabs while reading something about the topic for tomorrow’s class without the burden of studying. Learning few things about the topic that your teacher will discuss will make you feel more awake in class and will make you understand the lesson easier. You also get to ask questions and participate in class better.

Visit the disciplinary office. I believe that one of the people you should be getting advice from when you’re in school is your school’s disciplinarian. There’s this notion that when you’re in the disciplinary office you screwed up something in school, but that’s not the only purpose of the disciplinary office. Those disciplinarian took up psychology for them to understand student behavior. You can talk to them if something is bothering you and you’re looking for an honest advice. They may not be your parents, relative or your best friend, but I believe they took that job because they care for the young generation like you. They are monsters in disguise to maintain proper behavior in school, but if you didn’t do anything against the school rules and you just want to ask advice from them, I think you’ll be talking to guardian angels. So don’t be afraid to reach out and seek advice from them. You might just find another best friend with the wisdom that you need.

You don’t need to be popular in high school like all the popular student in your campus because when you enter college, everything will change and you will all experience half of the reality of the world where you need to learn to get along with other people and handle judgmental peers in your university. So don’t waste your youth trying to be famous in high school and trying to get all the boys or girls to like you, because it’s just going to be temporary. The attention you receive while you’re in high school will be different from college. There will be more cruel critiques in college. Spend more time on figuring out what you are good at while you’re in high school so that you don’t go shifting from one course to another when you enter college, because college life is also an investment.
